1. Using Moisturizer only on Dry Skin
Many of us make the mistake of applying a moisturizer on dry skin. But the right time to apply the lotion is right after taking a bath or shower.
To help the moisturizer retain moisture before it evaporates, your skin should be slightly damp but not wet.
When the skin is wet, the pores are still open and this allows the moisturizer to penetrate deep into the skin. This helps the skin stay hydrated longer.
Plus, using a moisturizer on wet skin means you’ll need a smaller amount compared to applying it to dry skin.
2. Not Applying Moisturizer For Oily Skin
People who have oily skin often jump using a moisturizer.
They usually think that their skin does not need more moisture. Some also think that their skin will become even fatter. But if you have oily or any other type of skin, you should always apply a little moisturizer.
For oily skin, you can choose an oil-free moisturizer that is lightweight. You can choose a water-based moisturizer, for example, because it is less fat. This type of moisturizer penetrates quickly into the skin and does not leave a greasy appearance.
